Anonymity

Members of Alcoholics Anonymous make a point of carrying the message about their own recovery in A.A. on a person-to-person basis, but never disclose the membership of others. In this way, they may serve as an example of recovery and thus stimulate active alcoholics to seek help. Anonymity in public media guards the unity of A.A. members and preserves the attraction of the program for the millions who need help.

Close Meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous

In support of A.A.’s singleness of purpose, attendance at closed meetings is limited to persons who have a desire to stop drinking. If you think you have a problem with alcohol you are welcome to attend these meetings. We ask that when discussing our problems that we confine ourselves to those problems as they relate to alcoholism.

Open Meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous

Anyone who wants to learn more about A.A. is welcome to attend an Open Meeting. In keeping with our singleness of purpose and our Third Tradition which states that “The only requirement for A.A. membership is a desire to stop drinking”, we ask that all who participate confine their discussion to their problems with alcohol.
